The Draco is ready to fly.
Battery adaptor made & tested, COG tested with batteries installed, Prop balanced, fitted & tested.
Switching from Safe Select back to AS3X is also now working correctly.
Just need a decent day to fly.
and, most importantly the camera mount has been designed & printed, installed & tested.

Phil, after rummaging through several “spare bits” boxes I found a control horn to fit your aileron servo so now all fixed & ready to fly again.
As discussed I also 3D printed some “Servo Savers” for your plane & put reinforcing tape on the hinges so you now just need to copy onto the other wing & your spare set.

I would normally glue the “Servo Savers” on but we may need to adjust your servo throws so its just taped on at present.
If you can’t find any clear “filament” tape locally, below is where I ordered my last lot from.
If you are out this way you can call in and pick your wing and other 3 “Servo Savers” up or else I’ll bring them next time we fly.
The Draco turned up this morning so 6 days from Melbourne, delivered Door to Door wasn’t too bad.
The box looked a bit worse for wear on one edge but with all the padding the seller had placed inside, the plane was undamaged.
It went back together very easily & after spending most of the afternoon programming the Jumper T16 to talk to the $195.00 Spektrum (AR637TA) receiver fitted to it all now seems to be working.
I have full 6 channel functionality on the lights, the motor reversing works fine & I can even display the telemetry from the smart receiver so a good days work.
The Safe Select function is working but at present wont switch back to AS3X mode so I will need to look at that tomorrow.
I’ll also need to make an adaptor to connect the IC5 battery connector on the Smart ESC to an XT60 to suit my batteries. Luckily I can use the 2 x 3S 4700mAh batteries from the Fox glider connected in series to meet the 6S needs of the Draco. Oh, and like the 3M Fox glider I will need to remove the Draco’s wings to get it in the car (bummer)
Another fine production Mr Kermit capturing the essence of the day (and of course all the mishaps !!)
The little biplane flies just like my Hyperbipe!!
Head Cam works well for flying but would you not be better using Landscape mode rather than Portrait mode?
Yes, it was a tad windy with a fair bit of gusting as well. The Zero would probably have flown without using the motor !!
Must agree with Uncle G, a fine video you crafted Mr Kermit from very little. Well done.
Here is my quick walk around after it opened to the public
Yes Ron, that is why we moved your stuff. The Train guys had a spare table AND they needed power so I have some leads & powerboards in the car and you will have power in the morning.
I checked when I got home and had 3 corrupted videos on the laptop. Replaced one and deleted the other 2 and all seems OK now.
Here are a few pics taken during the Sunday setup ready for the Monday Public display
The Display is open to the public (for a gold coin donation) from 10:00am till 3:00pm tomorrow Monday 13th March 2023 @ Kingston Park in the Community Hub
Hoppy, it just so happens that Dave W (Moo) has a Jumper T16 for sale as he is no longer flying. it has the MultiProtocol module built in (same as mine) and supports Spektrum & FRsky and many others.
Some nice looking models in that lot Mr Kermit
Yes Ron, didn’t scrub up too bad.
Glad you got the Spitfire repaired, looks fine again. Ill find a video of it flying & add to the display list for Monday.
After a dastardly landing that removed the nose wheel (and most of the nose) from “Li’l Eagle” she ended up once again looking a bit worse for wear.
Given that I had replaced the plywood servo/battery tray at least 3 times due to breakage I decided this time to 3D print one instead. Probably will break just as easily as the ply one but its a whole lot quicker, cheaper & easier to just print a new one rather than cutting one out of ply.
After a bit of gluing & patching she is good to fly again. -
