Looks like everyone’s videos are posted so the Voting page is now live.
Remember only 1 (one) vote from each member so choose carefully.
Now I’ll go and watch all the entries on the big screen and see who gets my vote today.
This is a freebie demo of the program so you can vote multiple times but if you do EVERYONE will know about it and bad things will happen.
If the system works ok & is used as hoped we can purchase the full version that blocks all but one vote.
With all that interest I better get my videos finished & the voting page live.
Looking like Sunday could be another good flying day, if there is any interest I’ll put up a Calendar entry.
That is pretty impressive Gerald, can you post the gyroflow only video in full screen rather than split screen. I would be interested to see how it comes out on the big screen.
The rest may be a while Ron, just about to head out for tea & a tinny or two.
Will get back into editing once I return around 7:00pm
As usual you are correct Chris, it is currently all white inside the dome, hopefully I’ll change it before next flight. At some point I’ll definitely try it with no dome but I’ll need to add exhaust ports as the Pod is pretty well sealed.
Also, I will try and get the camera lens closer to the dome as its around 70mm away at the present. Still needs to be angled down more but after all it’s still a work in progress.
Something different to keep me amused for a short while.
Thanks for the feedback Gerald.
Yes, V1 is quick & easy to set up but very limited in what you can do.
I think V2 will be the better option and we can still set up a fairly generic voting page so that video links etc don’t need to be changed all the time.
V2 also has a built in calendar function so voting stops automatically after 3 days (or whatever you set). You can also set a start date etc as well.
I think I’ve now sorted out the 2K video upload to YouTube, like you said you wouldn’t want to hold your breath while YT processes it though.
Unless it is significantly better on the big screen I’ll go back to 1080P as editing 2K is a pain on my old PC and 4K is virtually impossible.
A couple of things,
1) I have roughed out a Polling/voting page (link via top right hand corner of Main Menu) Have a look and have a vote but note that you only get one vote, there are two versions so feel free to vote in both as I want to see how they work.
2) My 2K version of the video is still loading (may be finished by teatime)
You have been a busy frog haven’t you Mr Kermit.
Third time lucky eh Kermit, Oh well what else can you expect on Friday 13th !!
Oh, by the way nice video, definitely in the running for the Peoples Choice Award this week.
Well, that is a nice fancy looking float plane, if it flies as well as it looks it should go fine.
Yes, I’ll angle the camera down a bit & clean the dome before next flight.
Generally I was pretty happy with it for a shakedown flight. Things can only get better !!
Perhaps you should try your GoPro 9 on the Ranger 1600, I’m sure it will fly with it fine as in the very early days I was flying with a GoPro 2 (in a waterproof housing) on the Bixler 2 and on the Firstar 1600 which is a forerunner to the Ranger 1600.
Another quality production Gerald, thanks for all your effort.
Bit of a tossup this week between you & the Frog !!
Both great videos, a shame that Kermit’s is only 720P
Well done Mr Frog and definitely worth the wait.
It’s a real toss up this week for the Peoples Choice Award between yourself & Uncle G. Both great videos of the day’s antics.
What a letdown, I logged in to check out your masterpiece and it wasn’t there. Well it actually was but low resolution again. Seems you have changed back to 720P rather than 1080P
As for your Seaplane, I have a couple of Bixler 2 motors here that are designed for your size prop, if they are of any use.
I should have your TrainStar up and running by lunchtime tomorrow as well.
One thing I can guarantee is that the wing is NOT flexing at the joiner.
The Wing root mates up to a fully epoxied Plywood box and 20mm CF joiner that is epoxied onto the wing spars and screws into the Ply box.
The wings flex fairly evenly along their length starting from around 150mm from the Pod.
I have run 50mm reinforcing tape along the top and bottom of the leading edge but I could definitely run another 50mm strip overlapping the edge of the first strip which would then cover around 90mm of the top & bottom of the wing.
But for now I’ll just try it as is with the new FC tuning and see how it goes.
