look forward to the videos Kermit, what camera did you buy?
Attack of the bumble bee, Uncle G will have a smile on his face.
Thanks for your comments. I had my eye on this loco for some time and as the hobby store had sent me a voucher at the beginning of the year for being a good customer, the advertised price discounted a bit and my birthday funds and reduce my bank balance it was too easy to push the buy button. I am very happy with it.
While the Runcam2 worked OK it is not really setup for closeup work and was not designed as such. The first video I did was slightly out of focus as the camera was too close so I had to re shoot. It now appears to be working OK. As I said previously more than likely me as the problem, probably one of the days I had the shakes and what feels like a single press can be multiples.
Pred, unfortunately there is no layout to speak of at the present time, thats why the video is shot on the kitchen table, wanted to get a video out to all those who made a donation towards it. In its present form all the bench work is done, one track around and the start of the freight yards. All covered in a ton of rubbish (wifes interpretation) mine all good stuff. Will get to it one day. The buy finger has not been very active of recent times so at least the depth is not increasing. I have had about 5 layouts so far starting when I was about 6. 2 of those were at my parents, the last evicted the family car from the garage, my dad gave up and built a carport. In my house I had one in the bedroom, Kids came along and the only thing I could afford was a small tin garden shed, most of the cost was for a concrete slabĀ to fix it on. About 15 years ago my wife decided that the outside patio was too RUSTIC so we got a new bigger metal one which meant my tin shed had to go. We had a carport under the main roof so after negotiation we built a double carport out the front and I was allowed to enclose the original carport. Its a great area and a lot of planning went into how to incorporate a layout shelf as well as incorporating a work bench under it to cater for other hobbies. As previously said has a bit of track work but thats it so far. Once RC world started have done very little else apart from coming across rolling stock thats was just too tempting and the buy button got pressed. So there have been lots of starts but never a completion. But a model railway never reaches completion as there is always something to add/modify. Hopefully there will be more progression on this one. It will definitely be the last start.
Becareful Uncle G, if you were playing with Shunbos have all the fun you like but these plastics are a bit fragile. But then again if they strike the first PUSH, NUDGE, RAM then may the best craft be afloat at the end of the day.
Kermit I have no doubt of your extreme skills in seamanship, I have read many a post of yours that you clearly tell us so. Your ability to PUSH, NUDGE, RAM without exerting any force on the bow of your craft is not in doubt. My warning was to those less experienced that may be there trying to copy your skill level that the 65 has a history of weakness in the bow. To see their craft slowly sinking after a miss judgement of a PUSH, NUDGE, RAM would be devastating for them. My comment to Uncle G was just a suggestion that if this unfortunate circumstance occurred while he was being maliciously attacked he could put his salvage hat on and help them out. At a cost of course, should not be too hard to negotiate a price with the skipper watching their craft sink. To see a 65 going faster backwards than forwards was a high light of the video but Uncle G will have to remember when salvaging the idea is to get it to shore in on piece.
Uncle G, amusing that a DF65 skipper would ram anything given that the bow has a historic weakness. You may be able to charge salvage by adding a few hooks to the tow line and trawling for them as they sink to the bottom.
Will have a look at that thanks Pred, camera appeared to be powered up as the indictor lights were on and indicating recording. Have another battery so will try that. Worked fine a few days before we left for 8 minutes test. Just something to join the to be looked at pile.
Moose, unfortunately only get down there 1 or 2 weeks in the year. The weather is not normally as kind as it was this time. Could not have asked for better weather. Well maybe a bit more breeze when I wanted to go sailing.
Thanks Pred, hope the flying went well, will catch up later tonight and see how the day went.
Thanks Kermit, not sure on the riveting part but hopefully a few more than last year, hang on a sec I have already equaled that so there is hope.. It was a good relaxing time, just what the doctor ordered.
57 trips thats an amazing record, no younger ones interested in joining the tradition? Wondered where the buggy was and now I know but where was the flag? Compliments to the Chef, you ate really well. Can under stand why a bit of toast might be all he wanted for breakfast after all those meals. A great tradition recorded in time again, hope you have many more. Thanks for posting Pred.
Apologies Pred, now I have seen the whole trip you did indeed get wet. Did you get any scratches on the side of car on that track. Looked mainly ferns.
Yes Moose the west coast is the place to be, apart from the fires and Covid lock down. Oh I misunderstood, seems another state has a west coast.
You got back to black top and didn’t get or shoes dirty or wet. Confidence taking the tow eye out before end of journey. Initially I thought he would pull out the Max Tracs. Need to get the shire to put a D9 down it just before next trip.
Credit to him, as it is now it looks, sounds and moves through the water in scale to its big brother. Rare in a model.
