Good stuff Tiles
…and it never rains on the sunny east coast
I’d like to thank Trout for lending me his boat for the day.
I’d like to thank Gadget for not having footage today – some of my sailing wasn’t pretty, and is better left unrecorded 🙂
A great day at the Duck, all the more so because:
– it was a nice breeze
– the dinghy wasn’t needed by anyone
– the dreaded mark 3 wasn’t used 😋
Thanks Gadget, Good stuff.
I don’t enjoy rowing – rather be sailing!
A rowlock went overboard – “lost at sea”. I will replace it, and get a pair while I’m at it – and try to get smaller ones that fit those oars.
Ho Ho Ho. Thanks Santa (aka Bodge) for helping retrieve my wayward boat.
and I dedicate my podium in the last race to Cookie, who helped me get back on the water, and taught me some basic electrics.….always learning I
Thanks Shorty for excellent write up. Thanks Bodge for generous boat loan. A great day at the Duck.
Great footage Gadget, including Bloody Geoff hitting the errant fish (or whatever it was) in race 2!
A great day all round – thanks Dave and Bodge ⛵️
Gumboots NOT required. The pond has dropped considerably, and there’s no rain this week.
By all means bring boots as a precaution, but don’t be put off by the remote possibility of using them..😊
Yes the albino masthead spider didn’t have a good day. I think I’ve sorted the problem. Don’t worry, the spider remains for now!
Good write up Bodge, and good vids Gadget. It’s great to see all my missed mark roundings, and re-live the joy 🥴
👍👍
That’s it – gate start.
Yes, I can see how it might not work for us 🥴
Thanks Gadget.
LeMans start yes – from the car park 🙂Actually I do have an idea for starts…I’m not sure what it’s called, but it I’ve seen it somewhere. One boat sails in the start area on port tack, and everyone else takes turn ducking their stern, so in theory all are equal up the course. The purists won’t like it, but it reduces congestion at the start (especially when the pin end is largely favoured). For less confident starters it gives them a fighting chance, and it’s less likely that one boat gets an unbeatable break. I’m thinking this could be just for the first start of the day (the handicapping reduces congestion for subsequent starts).
For consideration anyway. (No offence taken if this idea isn’t wanted!)
Hi Gadget Ron,
Great videos! When racing, one needs to keep an eye on one’s own boat, what? But thanks to your vids, we can watch the whole fleet.
Can I please have one of those wind indicators too.
