After a long and exhaustive investigation into the malfunctioning aileron on the Fox 3M it turned out to be a dead servo. (A Predator MG Digital Servo none the less). A replacement is on the way from the good old US of A.  Will be airborne again in a couple of weeks hopefully.

Now I better sort out the missing video.

I think twilight may be better than midnight.

You did well to land it with that light level.

There was some nice flying by your good self in the earlier part of that video, looking very professional. Just a shame they all ended up beaten and battered.

Overall though a very enjoyable video non the less.

in reply to: Finally got my Excalibur #16419

After a fair bit of stuffing around to find a “New Generation” FC that would actually fit inside the V2 Excalibur I ended up with a Speedy Bee F405 WING Mini.

It’s now in and tested & hopefully ready for her maiden flight on Thursday.

Be interesting to see if I can also get this one up to 176 KPH BUT without hitting the ground this time.

Results of the last attempt at exceeding 100MPH (with #1)

Battery was a little bit worse for wear as well.

    # 2 Ready to roll out.

Tis a bit squeezy but its all in and working and the 4S 2200 battery still fits (just)

Got to try out the repaired Sonic64 EDF powered flying wing after its rebuild from the prang a few weeks ago, flies just like new. Also flew the Sonic Modell AR Wing & the Wild Wing as well as the Bix 2. All came home in one piece.

Here are a couple of short videos from today.

Well it was a tad windier than it was supposed to be but everyone that turned up had a fly or three.

As most of my LiPo flight batteries are now well over 5 years old I have decided to start replacing them.

Today I was testing a new Gens ACE (Tatu-by another name) 3S 2200mAh 25-50C LiPo and it performed well, a good 15 minute flight with my Bix 2 Sport (upgraded motor etc) and was still recovering to 11.1V when landed and not dropping below 10.8V under WOT.  Not cheap but available in Aus so that’s a bonus.

I have also ordered a pair of the same size in 50C “Ovonic” brand. Arount half the price & cheap hostage (available in Aus also). Will be interesting to see how they go as well.

Fruity knocked the nose off his Wot Not bipe when attempting a cross wind takeoff & Kermit dislodged the wheels (again) on his Big Green flying thing but I think other than that the day was without incident.

The camera on my Bix 2 Sport is playing up again (crook SD card) so no onboard video today but I think I have a small video on the handicam that I’ll checkout shortly.

Below is a comment (via YouTube – Additional Footage video) from an Irish Sailor. Seems like he also liked the Water Level shots as well

I have a Sigma 38 OOD racing in the Irish Sea (UK)- and I find this video amazing.

What a great competition, what great sailors. As tight if not tighter than any “Round the Cans” full size racing that we do. Superb mark roundings. Up wind beating looks dramatic. Starts are spot on incredibly competitive.

    Thank you for great video.

Be careful what you wish for, maybe I’ll get the 10R out of mothballs next.

Slightly smaller that the A Class but with the same size sails & less than half the weight, looks like a DF95 on steroids.

It doesn’t ride up on little boats & push them under, it just cuts them in half !!.

It was a fine day for sailing @ the canal today & there was a good turn up.

Kermit & I were both testing some final mods on our respective A Class yachts & now that’s done I guess it’s time to go back to smaller craft next week.

The onboard video from today’s sailing is In Progress but will take a little while.

Sorry Kermit but you missed the Buoy.

    Nothing escapes “SkipperCam”
