Thank you one and all – another great day at the Duck. The attrition rate was higher than the wind would have suggested, but battling our way downwind was a lot of fun.
Yep it did turn out to be a bit windy!! We were using A+ rigs which proved to be a bit too powerful. Georgie’s choice of a B rig on her 95 was much wiser.
Thank you for recording that none of the sailors went aground this week!! Although some of us went very close.
Sorry I couldn’t sail today. Thanks for the write up and video!! Nearly as good as being there.
The conditions were close to perfect, although there was a bit of weed floating around.
Thanks Kermit. Nicely done.
Who would have thought that we would ever see a Royal Yacht sailing on the Duck. It was a very special sight. Thank you Ricky, Gerald, Peter and Mike for bringing a touch of class to a venue normally plagued by plastic wannabe yachts.
Really enjoyed seeing the different yachts and reckon we could have some fun races with the mixed fleet. The handicaps may be a bit interesting.
Thank you all for a great day and thank you to our generous hosts. I hope you have a great Christmas break and look forward to resuming early in the new year.
Stay safe.
It was a tough day at the Duck – not often that a standard A rig has been way too big. Don sure made the correct choice with the little rig as his boat flew around the course.
Full marks to Col for completing all the races with his A+ rig. I found my boat nearly uncontrolable with the big rig. Guess we are more used to light fickle winds for our Tuesday sessions.
Another frustrating day of racing at the ‘Duck with Duck Luck being quite an important factor – as usual. Most of us got to the pointy end at some stage until we managed to stuff up.
Thanks to all participants for a well run day and sailed in good spirits.
Well documented team.
Special thanks to Lisa for assisting some of us with our rig setups.
It was certainly a tough day at the Duck. Frustration was the name of the game. Today’s winner Trouty dominated all day – the rest of us have some work to do.
Now that is a heap of green.
Thanks Col and Kermit. Floor space is going to be my issue, and I suspect that hulls on their stands sitting on shelves will be the answer. I will not be able to store them rigged as I sometimes do currently. But I will contine to support the keel.
Sounds like it was a great day at the Duck. Sorry I had to miss it.
Doesn’t sound too complicated!! You lost me after the word”But”.
It was a great day at the Duck, but the wind was quite tricky. As usual Duck Luck was a factor and is better to have than boat speed!!
Thanks to all for a ripper day.
26 September 2020 at 20:08 in reply to: Sailing and scale boats at the canal 26th September 2020 #6095Yep, my feet and jeans did get a bit damp. I am thinking that a pair of waders may be useful.
The weed near the Ron’s Reef sign is really thick and heavy.
An interesting day of sailing at the Canal.
